OFFSHORE CRANE OPERATOR STAGE 1 TRAINING

Course Description: The offshore crane operator stage 1 training is designed for personnel with little or no offshore crane operating experience. The training provides the fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to begin a career as an offshore crane operator. Successful completion does not qualify a person to operate an offshore crane unsupervised.

Course Duration: 2 Days

Course Objectives: By the end of the offshore crane stage 1 training, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of an Offshore Crane Operator.
  • Describe the principles of safe offshore lifting operations.
  • Identify different types of offshore cranes and their major components.
  • Understand applicable offshore lifting regulations, standards, and company procedures.
  • Recognize offshore crane safety devices and explain their functions.
  • Conduct pre-operational crane inspections and identify defects.
  • Interpret load charts, lifting plans, and crane operating limitations.
  • Demonstrate safe operating techniques for routine lifting activities under supervision.
  • Communicate effectively using standard lifting signals and radio communication.
  • Identify hazards associated with offshore lifting operations and apply appropriate control measures.
  • Demonstrate competence in basic practical crane operating exercises.
